Remove growth without blasting the covering

Thick moss holds moisture against tiles or slates and breaks away into valleys and gutters. Pressure washing can be too harsh for an ageing covering, so we carry out roof moss removal in Newark by controlled hand scraping. We adapt the method to the roof material and its condition on houses, bungalows and garages. Moss, lichen and built-up debris are loosened carefully rather than driven beneath overlaps by a powerful jet. This gives us more control around fragile edges and lets us see the surface as work progresses, rather than relying on force to make the roof look clean quickly.

Clear the debris and inspect what it hid

Removed moss has to go somewhere, and leaving it at the roof edge simply creates another problem. We collect and clear loosened material, then empty the gutters so rainwater has an open route to the outlets. While the covering is exposed, we make a visual check for cracked or loose tiles, defective ridges, blocked valleys and failed flashing. Cleaning doesn't repair those faults, but it can bring small problems into view before trapped moisture, frost or overflowing gutters make them worse. We'll explain any defect found and quote separately for suitable repair work.
