A sound roof edge behind the new finish

  1. 01

    No capping over decay

  2. 02

    Secure gutter support

New fascia creates a firm, straight line for brackets and rainwater goods.

  3. 03

    Work sensibly combined

Roofline renewal can share access with larger roofing projects.

Protect the roof edge and exposed timber

Fascias support the gutter line, soffits close the underside of the roof edge and bargeboards protect exposed verge timbers. When these parts rot or loosen, gutters can sag and water can reach areas that should stay covered. We inspect roofline materials in Newark before recommending fascia and soffit replacement. Small sound areas may be repairable, while widespread decay can call for full uPVC renewal. Capping is another option, but only where the timber beneath remains structurally sound. We don't hide rotten wood behind a clean plastic face and leave the problem to carry on unseen.

Prepare the edge before fitting new materials

For full renewal, we remove deteriorated components and inspect the roof edge behind them. New materials then have a secure line for fixing rather than relying on softened timber. We also check how the guttering sits against the fascia, since poor alignment or weak brackets can send water down walls instead of towards the outlet. If other roof work is planned, completing the roofline at the same time can reduce repeated access, scaffolding or setup. Your written quote will explain whether repair, capping or complete replacement suits the condition found.
