Rigid fibreglass or flexible rubber explained

GRP and EPDM both create durable flat-roof coverings, but they suit different shapes and priorities. A GRP roof forms a rigid, seamless laminate with defined trims and a clean finish. EPDM uses a flexible rubber membrane, often laid in broad sections to reduce joints over straightforward areas. We fit either type to extensions, garages, dormers, porches, bay-window tops and suitable commercial roofs in Newark. We assess the roof shape, junctions, required finish and existing structure before explaining which system fits the job rather than choosing by habit.

The deck and drainage decide how well it lasts

A new membrane can't rescue a rotten or uneven base. When replacing worn felt, we inspect the deck and renew unsound sections so the chosen system has proper support. We also check drainage falls, perimeter edges and outlet positions because standing water often exposes weak detailing. Roof lights and wall junctions are formed as part of the complete design, not sealed as an afterthought. If blistering, failed edges or leaks remain local, repair may be practical. Where the covering or deck has broken down widely, we'll price full replacement and explain why.
